Many US companies are increasing their sustainability, but are reluctant to promote their efforts, writes Tensie Whelan

This article is poking holes in to the marketing efforts of brands not focusing on sustainability. I personally noticed after the GFC, most customers (Corporate and Government) lost interest in sustainability. However, I am starting to see an increased interest again. Here’s the 5 excuses marketers use for not using sustainability in their marketing efforts:

– Customers aren’t asking for it

– When we give it to them, they don’t want it

– Sustainability is boring, too complicated and too expensive

– It’s risky

– We need to communicate our core attributes
